Virtue and Moir, Osmond to skate for Canada in figure skating team event
Favoured French duo Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron will not participate
Ice dance duo Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, and fellow Canadian Kaetlyn Osmond will skate in the team event for Canada this weekend.
The French ice dancing pair of Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron, who defeated Virtue and Moir in the Grand Prix Final, will not participate in the event.
Canada currently sits first in the team event after Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford put in a strong performance in the pairs short program on Friday in Pyeongchang.
The efforts of the two-time world champs, plus a third-place skate from Patrick Chan in the men's short program earlier in the day, gave Canada 17 points in the overall standings. The United States sits second with 14, followed by Japan with 13.
Chan, the three-time world champion from Toronto, fell on both his quadruple toe loop and triple Axel to score 81.66.
The ice dance short program takes place Saturday at 8 p.m. ET. The women's singles short program follows at 9:45 p.m. ET while the pairs free skate begins at 11:40 p.m. ET.
