After John Tavares got the phone call informing him he would be representing Canada at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games next month, he made an important call to his parents.

And thanks to NHL Revealed: A Season Like No Other, fuelled by Gatorade, the CBC and NHL will help hockey fans get exclusive behind-the-scenes access to see moments like the one Tavares shared with his family. The CBC was given advance access to show a clip of the New York Islanders sniper speaking to his parents.

The seven-part series —  produced by Toronto-based Bristow Global Media Inc. — premieres on CBC on Jan. 23 and will give fans insight into the lives of more than two dozen of the NHL's top stars at the most intriguing points of their season.

From all the outdoor contests including the Coors Light Stadium Series games and the Heritage Classic, to the road leading up to Sochi, the series brings viewers along for the ride all the way to the Stanley Cup playoffs.
