Jonathan Quick to start for U.S. men's hockey team

Canada, U.S. sit Vancouver 2010 starters

Scott Burnside: Not surprised Jonathan Quick to start against Russia
ESPN's Scott Burnside joins Rob Pizzo and Mark Osborne to preview the Team USA game against Russia on Day 8.

Team USA is going with Jonathan Quick in goal as it begins its gold medal chase in men's hockey on Wednesday.

The Americans have decided to sit out their Vancouver 2010 goalie, Ryan Miller. Instead, Quick will play against either Slovakia or Czech Republic in the quarter-finals.

Quick, who got the win for the Americans' first two games, credits his teammates for his success.

"Guys are playing great in our own end and competing in front of the net when there are rebounds," Quick said.

Like the U.S., Team Canada is sitting its goalie from the Vancouver Olympics, Roberto Luongo. Carey  Price has been announced as the starter for Wednesday's quarter-final against Switzerland or Latvia.

Both Price and Quick have played two of the three games during tournament play.
