Canadian Roz Groenewoud won silver at X Games in women’s ski halfpipe on Friday night in Aspen, Colo.

American Maddie Bowman flew to her second straight X Games gold. Bowman posted a score of 88.66 to top the field of eight in the final.

Groenewoud, the lone Canadian in the final, made her seventh X Games appearance. She returned to competition after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on both knees in December.

“I’m ecstatic. It’s been an emotional process having surgery that close to games,” said Groenewoud.

“My coaches put together a very strict program which sometimes has been frustrating to follow but I’ve trusted the plan and it has worked out.”

“I’m excited for the next few weeks of the plan and to start getting back my harder tricks but this is such a perfect way to remember how to compete and to remember how to deal with the butterflies and to prepare for Sochi.”

Bowman, 19, made her fourth Winter X Games appearance, winning for her third career podium finish.

"X Games is huge, so I think I'm on top of the world right now," said Bowman.

"I think the biggest thing was just coming out here and having fun, kind of just focusing on the skiing and having a good time."

Marie Martinod of France won bronze.
