Alex Gough is the first Canadian luger ever to win gold in a World Cup race. In February 2011, she snapped Germany’s 105-race winning streak in World Cup competition, ending a 13-year dominance. She went on to win Canada’s first-ever world championship women’s luge medal when she captured bronze later that year.
Alex made her Olympic premier at Vancouver 2010, where she placed 18th. She has finished in the top five of the World Cup standings every season since then, including a bronze medal at the 2013 World Championships.
